Legalized sports betting in Ohio

Despite the recent Supreme Court ruling on PASPA, Ohio sports betting is still very much up in the air. There are several different groups vying for a place in the industry, and the legalization process is still being shaped.

The first step in the process is for the State of Ohio to amend its constitution. This means that the bill must be passed by the legislatures and signed by the governor. It then must go through a 90-day period in which opponents can gather signatures. The bill would then need to be approved by the House and Senate floors.

In addition, the bill would require Ohio sports bettors to be at least 21 years of age. The state’s legal sports betting market is expected to grow by the end of the year. There are a number of potential operators who are preparing for the launch date of January 1, 2023.

Legalized sports betting in Kansas

Until last year, there was no way to legally place a sports bet in Kansas. But that was about to change. Governor Laura Kelly signed a bill into law last week that will finally allow sports betting in the Soonest State. The bill will allow sports bettors to wager on their favorite NFL teams. It will also allow users to seek help for problem gambling.

There are four state-owned casinos in Kansas. Each one expects to collect between $9 and 45 million in sports betting revenue over the next few years. The casinos have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Kansas political campaigns. Several sports organizations have also donated to the gubernatorial campaign.

A special committee met in January. The committee included lobbyists from four state-owned casinos, a sports betting company, and three professional sports leagues.

Legalized sports betting in Connecticut

Among the states that were among the first to legalize sports betting was West Virginia. West Virginia took the first legal bets in August 2018. West Virginia has a history of launching new and re-branded sportsbooks and casinos. In addition to the old reliables, the state now has three fully operational casinos with sports betting on tap.

It’s no secret that West Virginia sports betting is a lucrative proposition for casinos. The state has partnered with two of the biggest players in the space. These include Caesars and BetMGM. These players will enter the market in January and September of 2020 respectively.

West Virginia is a state that has long been supportive of legalized sports betting. In fact, West Virginia’s state attorney general has filed amicus curiae briefs in sports betting related court cases.
